New MCE Requirement The Legal Update Is Available As A Correspondence Class. The Texas Real Estate Commission will require agents subject to MCE to complete 6 hours of legal updates. Three hours in Legal Updates and three hours in Legal Ethics Updates. There are no changes regarding pre-licensure classes or SAE classes. Correspondence Classes Continue to be accepted by TREC today and in the future. NOTICE All Current TREC Legal & Ethics MCE classes expire at the same time. 12/31/2007. If you order a course before this date you need to complete the course before the expiration date. We have been approved for the new MCE Legal and Ethics course. TREC course #06-06-129-6503 Summary Of New TREC MCE Rule: Licensees on active status will be required to take the required legal update and legal ethics courses for their next and all subsequent renewals of their license after January 1, 2005. Thus a licensee may, but is not required to attend the required legal courses for his or her first renewal after the effective date, but the licensee is required to take the courses for the next and all subsequent renewals. More details are available in the September 2004 TREC Advisor. These new rules do not apply to courses needed to obtain a license or those licensees subject to SAE courses.
