Your Education Station™
Step 1.

You will first need to determine how much education you will need.  The Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) requires 180 hours.  120 of these hours must be in "CORE" real estate classes.

60 Hours in Principles

30 Hours in Law of Contracts

30 Hours in Law of Agency

The balance of the 180 hours can come from acceptable related classes from your college.  Click here for a list of acceptable related hours.

TREC will need to evaluate your education.  Click here for a TREC education evaluation form.

Many schools will try to sell you a Principles I & II.  We have created one class for the 60 hours Principles requirement.  This 60 hour Principles 0112 class saves you time and money.

Remember Math is not a required class.  Texas law requires that Math be taught in the principles class.

Determine which class or classes you need.  Order your class.  When you receive the materials you must complete the homework assignments.  This consists of answering a bank of questions over the material.  After you have completed the homework assignments and returned them to Academic Excellence you can sit for the open book proctored final exam.  Many of our students take this open book final exam in our office.  Those outside the Austin area can take the test at a local library, college testing center or with an approved notary.  We now offer online final exams.

Each class comes with printed text and a work book.  Many of our classes now allow you to complete the homework assignments either on paper, by CD-ROM or on-line.   We now offer online answer sheets.  Just complete the assignments in your workbook and then transfer them to our exclusive online answer sheets.  Nothing to fax or mail. Click here to try our on-line demo homework assignment.

After you have completed the homework assignments and passed the open book final exam you are awarded credit from Texas Tech University CPD, TREC provider #0143.

These are self paced home study classes so the time to complete the class depends on how quickly you can perform the work and take the open book proctored or online final exam.

You can order these classes from by phone 1-800-522-8835, on-line, by fax 1-512-451-9787 or by mail at:

Step 2.

After completing all your course work, submit your real estate application and necessary fees, to TREC. You do not need a sponsoring broker to take the State licensing exam. TREC will review your application.  You will then receive a Candidate Information Brochure (CIB). This CIB will provide instructions for scheduling and taking the licensing exam.

Some people will want an exam prep.  We offer this in 3 formats.  After completing your course work you will have a good idea if you need this extra help.

After passing the State exam you will be issued either an inactive license or your license will be sent to your sponsoring broker.

Step 3.

Go to work as a professional real estate agent after your broker receives your license.
