HARVEY NEPTUNE
A HUB HERO
By now you've probably asked yourself, and everyone around, "Who is Harvey Neptune, anyway?" or maybe, "Why is Harvey Neptune?" Since you haven't received an informative answer from yourself or anyone else, we'll just have to tell you.
We'll begin by answering the second question first--Harvey Neptune isn't--he was, but he used to be. He was also Band III's selection for Lubbock's Outstanding Citizen of 1971. To answer the first question second would take more time than we have or want, but at least a partial synopsis of Harvey's life and accomplishments is needed to enable the reader to fully appreciate the following.
Mr. Neptune, up until September 9, 1971, was head of Ground Maintenance at the Boaz Prescription Pharmacy, 2316 19th. St. He served there for 15 years before losing his life in a tragic accident resulting from the strife which swept Lubbock on the evening of September 9th. And 10th. Mr. Neptune dies of injuries sustained the night of September 9th, when he was edging the Boaz Pharmacy lawn, and was sideswiped by a KEND mobile news unit attempting to parallel park.
Mr. Neptune is survived by his wife, Obleo Farquar Neptune, and three sons, Lance, Alexander and Flash.
