The Story Of ZIT

Band III Weakly Planet

This is from the ZIT Dedicatory Issue of the Band III Weakly Planet.

The First marching circles….the First marching stars…..the First Drum Clique…..the First Precision flag corps….the First Tuba shirts….and now the Goin' Band can proudly add another "first" to its growing list--the First chapter of Zeta Iota Tau, National Percussion Honorary.  That's right, the Alpha Chapter of ZIT was founded on the TECH campus and already colonized chapters at the University of Houston and Metro College in Denver, Colorado.

ZIT is open to both men and women with outstanding leadership potential and percussive ability.  The purpose of ZIT are many and varied, the foremost being the continuing domination of drummers in the field of sorghum, soybeans and especially corn.

So, today and henceforth when you see a ZIT member give him (or she) a nod, a smile, a nudge, a nickel, a loaf of bread, a jug a wine, the key to your room, whatever.  Make him (or they) fell appreciated, wanted, yes, desired.

In conclusion, just, let me say that even though we are the founding fathers of an organization destined to attain the heights of greatness and world fame and even thought everyone of us has an I.Q. of 174 or above and a subscription to the "Instrumentalist" and even though we all read Dante's Inferno in its original form and found complete inner peace through love and understanding, try to consider us as just "regular folks."  It may be rough, but try…….

This Issue Also Introduced Us To The Founding  Father Of ZIT.
